A GEO audit should tell you what it cannot measure.
One of the easiest mistakes in AI visibility work is turning missing evidence into a bad score.
If an AI engine exposes no usable citation evidence, that does not mean:
“your citation performance is zero.”
It means:
citation performance was not measurable from the evidence available in that run.
The same distinction applies to competitor surfacing, crawler accessibility, factual support and other signals.
I’ve become increasingly convinced that good GEO tooling should optimize for defensible conclusions, not for filling every dashboard cell with a number.
Sometimes the most accurate result is:
UNMEASURED.
And that is more useful than false precision.
Curious how other people working on AI search / GEO are handling missing evidence today.
