wp-migrate-core now has AI assistance, and this is where the project gets much more interesting.
A WordPress export leaves plenty of decisions behind. What replaces that shortcode? Where should an old URL go? Which migration findings need attention first?
The new workflow helps work through those questions:
• Prioritize the repair queue and prepare a client-readable brief. • Draft missing alt text from image metadata and page context. • Suggest replacements for unsupported shortcodes and widgets. • Match old URLs to routes already in the migration plan. • Propose fixes for malformed block markup.
You review the suggestions, accept the useful ones, and reuse those decisions when generating the site again.
There are now four destinations: Astro, Next.js, Payload and Pruvious. That covers both static sites and CMS apps where someone still needs to edit the content after the move.
I’m particularly happy with the repeatable part. A reviewed decision becomes part of the migration instead of another manual fix to remember next time.
