EANI — Seamless Emotion Transitions in Rive
One of the key challenges in bringing EANI to life was creating smooth, natural transitions between different emotions without abrupt jumps or visual flickering.
Using a shared character rig and Rive State Machine, I built an interactive animation system that allows EANI to switch between expressions while maintaining consistent proportions and character personality.
Each emotion features its own looping animation, with carefully designed transitions of approximately 300ms to keep the movement fluid and expressive.
From Idle to Happy, Curious, Funny, Celebration, and more, every transition is designed to feel like one continuous character rather than separate animations.
The goal: Make emotion switching feel natural, responsive, and alive.

It's all controlled through a single Rive State Machine using an Enum property. Each emotion has its own looping timeline within a shared character rig, with smooth transitions between states rather than simply switching between separate animations
