Rift Rider is my entry for the Rive Scripting Challenge with Contra.
It’s a 2D top-down mini game where you race against time to collect crystals and escape through the portal.
• Randomly generated diamonds, the portal only opens after collecting all of them.
•Fully procedural map, every run creates a brand-new environment.
• Dynamic draw order based on Y position for proper top-down depth.
• Central timer that also drives the health bar using converters.
• Collision based on artboard bounds.
• Procedural enemy spawners with controlled timing and quantity.
• Behavior rules for enemies driven by scripting.
• Global world state script managing runtime instances and shared values.

What started as a simple project to learn Rive grew into something much bigger. Had such a great time building it that I even made a mock game box inspired by classic retro Atari-style games.
Game is built mostly with Data Binding, State Machines, and Events (97%). Used JavaScript to bring it online and handle the firing mechanics and audio, and scripting is used for the Titan Catfish attack. I even added that classic and sometimes frustrating 3 initial high score screen, with scores saved to a Firestore database.
If I were to do it again, probably rely more on scripting & reduce use of events.
Note: Since I started this project without much of a plan, it’s currently best played on desktop. On mobile, audio doesn’t play on some levels, and there seem to be a few redraw issues.

My game submission is a colorful perception quiz game utilizing scripting and the AI agent.
Some highlights of the project:
• Game logic that adapts to difficulty and color ranges, while also balancing types of questions across the total rounds. All scalable.
• Particle system is reactive UI changes with built in presets to adjust the visuals on the fly.
• The game brain script only edits the view model with what the game logic feeds it, and the game flow progresses only through control in the state machine. This allows for clear separation to track bugs.
I learned a lot about scripting, state machines, and building working gameplay. Enjoy!
