Be aware. Scammers are here! I want to flag a scam that is actively targeting freelancers.

Someone contacted me offering to “rent” my Upwork account because their own account was suspended. They proposed:

• Full access to my Upwork and Payoneer accounts

• Remote control of my computer through AnyDesk

• A monthly payment in exchange for using my identity to submit proposals and complete work

They explicitly mentioned avoiding IP and device fingerprint detection.

This is account sharing, identity misuse, and likely fraud. If you agree, you risk:

• Permanent platform bans

• Frozen payment accounts

• Chargebacks and tax liability

• Your identity being used in scams

No legitimate professional needs to operate through someone else’s account.

If you receive anything similar, do not engage. Report and block.

ASAP! This was a project on Contra and submitted a proposal they sent me a video file to install for video meeting. I did not install anything and report.

Contra needs a better verification system when new people post a job.

Question: How is someone able to post a $1,500 job on Contra and begin contacting freelancers without the client's identity and company affiliation being verified first?
