As I continue my journey to deepen my knowledge of AI, I'm taking on the Flora Met Museum challenge as my first ever Contra challenge. I found this beautiful artwork by Winslow Homer called "The Gulf Stream". I was inspired to give the subject in the painting an ending to his story; making my theme "build a world around the subject". I wondered what became of the man. Did he perish among the torrential ocean storm or did he make it out alive? Pulling inspiration from more of Homer's paintings I show the viewers my interpretation of the rest of the story. On October 14th, 2025 a U.S. missile strike killed two Trinidadian men, Chad Joseph and Rishi Samaroo. The island my family is from. They were returning home from Venezuela. This was during the time the U.S. was trying to secure foreign oil. They were just regular fishermen. As I reflected on why this painting stood out to me, I recalled this story and thought of the families who didn't receive justice. And unfinished story like this piece.
