I never wanted to be a starving artist.

Wanted to be a talk show host. Then a Vegas lounge singer. Anything but an artist.

For the Renoise × Contra challenge I got personal.

60 seconds, autobiographical, every frame on a plan: childhood daydreams shot in degraded consumer formats (Kodachrome, broadcast NTSC, grainy 16mm), graduating into large-format cinema as the kid works out what he's been doing all along.

FacePass held the shots I needed, and the interface stayed out of my way. Cool tool, genuinely easy to use.

Moments

We spend years building a life. In the end, it's the memories that stay.

Memories is an emotional AI-generated short film about an elderly mother revisiting moments from her life through a diary filled with stories, love, laughter, and fragments of a life well lived.

A reminder to slow down, cherish the people around us, and create moments worth remembering.

Because one day, memories may be all we have left

"We think we're leaving. We're always heading home."

The dust behind a motorcycle on a dirt road is the same dust that drifts across Mars and maybe the same dust we're all made of.

I've never edited a video in my life. I build software for a living. But I found Renoise, saw this challenge, and as someone who can't resist one, I treated it the only way I knew how: as a problem to solve, shot by shot. 17 scenes, one storyboard, a lot of trial and error from a cornfield on Earth to the red plains of Mars.

I didn't know how to make a film. So I just kept asking: what does this feel like? And chased that frame by frame.
