Let’s be honest: Starting your copywriting journey isn’t always easy.
You watch tutorials, take notes, and try to practise, but sometimes you still feel like you’re not making progress.

Here are 5 common problems beginner copywriters face and how to overcome them. 👇
1️⃣ “I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE.” 😩
You sit in front of your screen, staring at a blank page.
💡 Solution: Start with your audience, not your words. Ask yourself:
Who am I writing for?
What problem are they facing?
How can this product help them?
When you understand your audience, finding the right words becomes easier.
2️⃣ “MY WRITING DOESN’T SOUND PERSUASIVE.”
Your sentences are grammatically correct, but they don’t convince anyone to take action.
💡 Solution: Focus on benefits, not just features. Show readers how a product can improve their lives rather than simply describing what it does.
3️⃣ “I STRUGGLE TO WRITE CATCHY HEADLINES.”
You know the headline matters, but nothing you write seems interesting enough.
💡 Solution: Practise writing three different headlines for the same product. Experiment with curiosity, a specific benefit, or a problem your audience wants to solve.
4️⃣ “I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIND CLIENTS.” 😔
You’ve learned some copywriting skills, but you don’t know how to turn them into opportunities.
💡 Solution: Build a portfolio with sample projects, optimise your LinkedIn profile, connect with business owners, and learn how to write personalised proposals.
Remember, you can create portfolio samples even before getting your first paying client.
5️⃣ “I KEEP DOUBTING MYSELF.” 💔
You compare your work with experienced copywriters and feel you’re not good enough.
💡 Solution: Stop expecting yourself to write like an expert when you’re still learning. Study good copy, practise daily, seek feedback, and improve one skill at a time.
Every expert was once a beginner.

You don’t need to know everything before you start.
You need to start, practise, learn from your mistakes, and keep improving.
Your first draft won’t always be perfect, and that’s okay.

Every domain has its superstarts and idols. In this regards, copywriting makes no exception from the rule. There are the copywriters that made it, and there's you: the copywriter who wants to make it big.
If you don't have a copywriter as a professional model, you are missing out on so many things. Basically, you are missing out on
- learning from a success story that has already happened
- finding the inspiration to move forward even when things around going well
- getting access to classical pieces of copy
But whom should you follow? Why would you follow a specific copywriter?
Here's a list of, what I believe to be, the most important and most talented copywriter to have ever walked the face of this planet.
1. David Ogilvy. Some consider him to be the best copywriter of all time. All I can say about his research abilities and powerful headlines should be enough to make him your role model.
2. Claude Hopkins. Considered the grandfather of copywriting, his concise and informed style of writing advertising will make him a good role mode to anyone who is new into copywriting. Just read his Scientific Advertising, and you will learn enough of the craft to get going.
3. John Caples. He should become your inspiration for his scientific approach on copywriting, in general, and on headlines, in particular. One thing that he has though us is that people aren't interested in headlines that entertain as much as they are looking for headlines that offer valuable information.
4. Eugene Schwartz. He changed the game of copywriting with his ideas. What copywriters did not know before him was the importance of awareness and market sofistication. If you want a mentor that deeply understand this craft, I recommend you reading Mr. Eugene's Breakthrough Advertising.
5. Joe Sugarman. "The goal of the first sentence is to get the reader to read the next sentence." His take on copywriting was meticulous and took into consideration the importance of keeping the audience interested
