Turning a Podcast Topic into an Engaging Email
A podcast episode can do more than educate its listeners. It can become another meaningful touchpoint with its audience.
For this independent speculative project, I explored how a podcast topic about managing competing priorities could be transformed into an email for small-business owners.
Rather than simply summarising the topic, I focused on a familiar challenge: being busy all day but struggling to make progress on the work that matters.
Here’s the email copy I developed:
Subject: Busy all day, but what actually moved forward?
Preview text: A simple way to bring more focus to an overloaded working day.
Hi there,
Ever reached the end of a busy day and wondered where all your time went?
You’ve answered messages, handled unexpected requests, attended to customers and crossed several things off your list.
Yet the one task you really needed to complete is still waiting.
When you run a small business, it’s easy to treat everything as urgent. But giving everything your attention doesn’t mean you’re making progress on what matters most.
Here’s a small exercise to try:
Before starting tomorrow, ask yourself:
What genuinely needs my attention today?
Which task will make the biggest difference to my business?
What can wait until later?
Choose one important task and give it a dedicated place in your day.
You may not get everything done, and that’s okay. The goal is to make meaningful progress instead of spending the entire day reacting to whatever comes next.
Because being busy and moving your business forward aren’t always the same thing.
Here’s to a more focused working day.
