Just added a new piece of work to my profile.
A client needed owners of landscape and hardscape contractors, but with a specific exclusion: no lawn care, no lawn maintenance, no property maintenance, and no design-only or architecture-only firms.
A lot of companies blend these services, so the research had to go deeper than a keyword search. I checked each company's actual project work to confirm they build hardscaping and outdoor living construction for residential homeowners, not just mow lawns or draft plans.
Only owners were included, no other titles, since that was the exact requirement.
This is the kind of research where the exclusions matter as much as the criteria. Getting it right means understanding what a business actually does, not just what industry it's labeled under.
