I've found myself really zeroing in on the first few seconds of a website lately.
Itโs not about fancy animations, the colour scheme, or whether it looks super trendy.
My main question is always: ๐๐๐ง ๐ ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฉ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ฒ ๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐๐ฌ ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐๐ฐ๐๐ฒ?
If I have to scroll down to get it, thatโs a red flag for me.
That initial section of a homepage really has a lot on its shoulders. It needs to give me enough of a clue about who they serve, what they offer, and why I should even bother sticking around.
Everything else can fill in the blanks later.
That first glimpse just needs to pique my interest enough to make me want to see more.
So yeah, that's a big part of how I judge a homepage.

How to build authority in one screen
A strong hero section should do more than introduce who you are.
For an expert-led brand, the first screen can already communicate authority through a few intentional elements:
โ A clear, confident promise that shows what you help people achieve
โ Real imagery of the expert in action, not just a polished portrait
โ Proof points like experience, reach, results, or audience size
โ A short credibility cue, such as a quote or testimonial
โ One obvious next step so visitors know exactly where to go
Authority doesnโt come from adding more content. It comes from making the right information visible at the right moment.
Before someone scrolls, they should already understand three things:
What you do. Why they should trust you. What to do next.
