Before asking what AI can automate, ask whether the work itself makes sense.
A lot of AI conversations start too late.
“What can we automate?”
I’d start earlier:
1. What work are we trying to improve?
 2. Why does it exist?
Who owns the outcome?
 3. Where does it actually break?
Because if a workflow is unclear, ownership changes depending on who is available, or nobody can explain why three approvals exist, adding AI doesn’t solve the operating problem.
It accelerates it.
I’ve become increasingly careful about distinguishing between:
a technology problem, a workflow problem, an ownership problem, and a decision problem.
They require very different interventions.
AI can be incredibly useful.
But technology should enable the operating model, not compensate for one that nobody has clarified.
