The real engineering challenge is everything around it:

β how hallucinations are detected
β how responses are evaluated
β how costs and latency are controlled
β how the whole system behaves in production
This is where AI Engineering meets traditional software engineering.
And honestly, that's the part I enjoy the most.

For me, itβs cultural context. AI can generate references, but it canβt fully replicate lived experience. As a South African creative, so much of my work relies on instinct, memory, language and the nuances of how we actually experience our culture.
When Iβm reimagining iconic or legacy South African brands, the success of the work depends just as much on what I bring to it as the tool itself; my lived experience, cultural memory, understanding of our language, humour, visual codes and the way South Africans actually experience these brands.
The technology can help me execute an idea faster, but it canβt replace the instinct behind why something feels recognisably South African, why a certain reference matters, or why one creative choice will resonate more deeply than another.

This lines up with what I see in branding work. The tool speeds up execution, but choosing which cultural reference actually carries weight is the part only lived experience gets right, and that instinct is what makes the work feel local instead of generic.
Bringing AutoPedicare AI to Life
One of the projects Iβve been working on recently is AutoPedicare AI an AI-powered platform designed to help drivers understand their vehicles, connect with trusted mechanics, source genuine spare parts, and manage vehicle care with confidence.
To tell that story, I created this cinematic AI-generated launch video, combining storytelling, prompt engineering, AI video generation, and product visualization to showcase the vision behind the product.
This project challenged me to think beyond beautiful visuals and focus on communicating a productβs value through compelling narrative, realistic scenes, and premium brand direction.
