I think working on my portfolio is the coolest thing ever because I can go as crazy as I want, who is there to stop me? 😅 It's been seven years since I first discovered Webflow and built my very first portfolio site. A few redesigns later, at the end of this summer, it felt like the time to push myself again and come up with something fresh.
This time I wanted to create something that doesn’t really follow the standard web design rules. I mixed GSAP with some custom code to build this grid-like setup, which functions as an online archive of everything I’m proud of, from paid projects to passion projects.
Would love to hear what you think!

@Ruben van As what's your favourite project that you created?
Ruben's avatar
@Rita Digore Its actually one that I'm currently still working on, its an ios app which is something I've been wanting to do for years now! Might share something about it soon haha

@Ruben van As Definitely out of the box. Well done!!!

@Ruben van As Astounding! It amazes me that it was all possible using Webflow. Was it hard technically? Did you have to use custom code?
Ruben's avatar
@Calvin Hoffer For this interaction I combined the Webflow grid with some custom code to get full control over the transition and draggable effect. It took some trial and error but with the help of AI it is very doable!

@Ruben van As if you can't have fun with your portfolio, what's the point!? this is awesome! i love how you've kept the foundational design clean and simple, really let's the eclectic visual styles shine through without feeling like they're competing.

@Andrea DiNardo Haha right?? Thanks for the kind words! 🙌

@Ruben van As that's true! Only issue is that you need to set boundaries otherwise you end up working on it for ages 😂
Ruben's avatar
@Andrea Montini Oh that's so true haha, but it's just so fun to keep working on it 😂
Kalpam's avatar
@Ruben van As Very dope interactions! Loved it!! Can you suggest where I can learn webflow to build these type of stuffs?
Thanks in advance❤️
Ruben's avatar
@Kalpam Creative Studios Webflow has great tutorials and documentation! So I would say find projects you like either made with Webflow or any other way and search on the design elements or interactions used, most of the time you will find a useful tutorial. Hope this helps!

@Ruben van As a click into it can really turn one to an addict ... such a nice design you have here
Ruben's avatar
@Emmanuel ikwegbu Getting people to click around and discover was exactly the goal, thanks a lot!

Carlos's avatar
@Ruben van As Totally true! Later you realize that the portfolio will never be fully finished 😂
Ruben's avatar
@Carlos Huertas Oh please, you're so right haha at one point you just have to say it's "good enough"
Stephenie 's avatar
@Ruben van As another portfolio inspiration bookmarked. At this point will i ever design my portfolio 😅
Ruben's avatar
@Stephenie Amadhe Finding inspiration is the first step in any design haha, you can do it!

@Stephenie Amadhe @Ruben van As A lot of portfolios are bookmarked and just waiting for that day when every designer will upgrade their portfolio 🤗

@Ruben van As I really like the interactions and animation in the projects. The overall look is very minimal sci-fi. One small critique. I didn't watch the video. So when i first started I just zoomed into the 3 projects and didn't realize you had to drag. I almost gave up but I came back...
Ruben's avatar
@C.K. Worrell Thanks for the feedback! I've heard this from others as well so I'm looking into a more user friendly interaction like scrolling or a way to make the dragging behaviour more clear
Caleb's avatar
@Ruben van As Great work! 🧨

@Caleb Lee Thanks! 🙌

Anita's avatar
@Ruben van As this is insaaaane, which part was your favorite to design?
Ruben's avatar
@Anita Autorino Oohh, definitely the concept of the draggable grid. I wanted it to feel sort of like a gallery to explore which hopefully also motivates me to post more of my work on it!
