I built this project to test Colours that refuse to mix, combed on water in a stone trough. The Mordant Vault guards colours that refuse to blend. Float them on water. Comb them. Never, under any circumstance, stir. The core engineering challenge was sustaining uncompromised 60 FPS rendering using WebGL / GLSL Shaders while handling continuous user interaction without framework overhead.
WHAT I WAS TESTING:
I focused on two core engineering benchmarks:
Precision implementation of shader marbling under continuous interactive user input
Sustained 60 FPS render performance and zero-dependency browser execution
THE TECHNICAL SIDE:
Engineered directly in the browser with WebGL / GLSL Shaders, Canvas2D, Shader marbling. The application runs without third-party frameworks or build-step dependencies, using hardware-accelerated rendering and custom event loops to achieve zero-latency response.
Everything executes in the browser using WebGL / GLSL Shaders, Canvas2D, Shader marbling. No third-party frameworks, no heavy runtime bundles, and zero external tracking.
WHAT I LEARNED:
Balancing the mathematical rigors of shader marbling with tactile browser interaction required tuning event throttling and memory allocation to eliminate all garbage collection stutters.
Finding the sweet spot between mathematical precision and frame budget took careful profiling, but the result runs at a steady 60 FPS even on modest hardware.
TRY IT YOURSELF:
The live build is deployed on Netlify. Open it in your browser, test the controls, and observe the render response times.

The work is the easy part.
As a freelancer, the hard part is everything around the actual work: finding work that fits, pitching it well, following up at the right time, and making sure you actually get paid. Most tools help you manage projects you already have. Very few help with the rest.
So I built Rendr, a Mac app for the business side of freelancing. Today I'm opening a small private beta.
Here's what it does:
→ Job finder: Searches open job boards, the careers pages of companies you want to work for, and your Contra feed, then scores each posting against your resume and explains why it fits.
→ Site audits: Paste a business's website and Rendr checks its speed, search basics and accessibility, then writes a review and a short outreach email.
→ Applications: A tailored resume, cover letter and application answers in about a minute. Every line comes from your real resume and shows where it came from.
→ Proposals and Pipeline: Track every lead to a signed proposal, draft proposals with packages and pricing, and get a follow-up drafted when a proposal goes quiet.
→ Money: See what's come in, which invoices are open or overdue, and every subscription you pay for, with a heads-up before renewals.
→ Command: Your day in order, with a short daily briefing.
With many more features to come!
It's private by design. There's no account and no Rendr server; your clients, proposals and files all stay on your Mac. AI features run on your own Claude API key, and Rendr drafts but never sends anything on your behalf.
Everyone in the beta uses it free while it runs. After the 2 month beta, this will be a one-time purchase of $79 for lifetime access. I have a personal mission to build products that accelerate people's lives, and I'm not interested in subscription models for that.
If you freelance on a Mac (macOS 12 or later), request access at gorendr.com and I'll send you the install file and invite code. I'd love your honest feedback!
love that it drafts but never sends anything on its own, that's the right call. for the site audits, where do your beta users usually find the business websites to paste in?
