A client can change the delivery plan without adding a single page.
A new fictional example: a two-page brochure has an agreed five-working-day turnaround after final copy arrives. The plan allows four working days for production, followed by one working day for client review.
The client now asks for the same brochure in three working days.
Before promising it, write down the sequence: • Final copy received → production can start • Production completed → client review can start • Review completed → agreed delivery check
With those assumptions unchanged, the five-day sequence does not fit the three-day request. The unchanged page count doesn't settle feasibility.
Check what could genuinely change: earlier inputs, a different production approach, confirmed capacity, or an agreed review arrangement. Verify each option with the people doing the work. If none is workable, retain the baseline or propose a different delivery plan. Don't silently assume overtime, parallel review or a rush fee.
Record the requested timing change and its effects before seeking approval through the existing project process. Fee and schedule decisions should be explicit and separate.
Shown: the complete “Compare practical options” worksheet from Command Current's Project Scope Change Control Kit. This brochure scenario is an additional manual exercise, not the kit's included fictional example.
The five-file ZIP includes a seven-page editable Word packet, matching print PDF, Excel change register, fictional completed example and Quick Start. Designed for desktop Word and Excel; PDFs are static. The register helps track entered requests and decision evidence. It does not calculate a feasible production schedule or authorize changes to your agreement.
