Creatives on Contra have earned over $150M and we are just getting started
End of an era. After 3 good years on Framer, we moved
@designme to our own stack. Framer got us far, and I'd still recommend it for a lot of teams. But the more we grew, the more we needed control: over the code, structure and speed of testing and shipping new things. So, we rebuilt everything from scratch in Astro. It's the same setup we now build for our clients (which is exactly why we had to run our own site on it first). Really proud of the team and how fast we're moving now. DesignMe 2.0 is live ↓

Big move! Framer is great for speed, but having full control over the stack opens up so many possibilities.

Makes total sense once you need that level of control over testing and shipping. Curious how much faster the site feels now on Astro.

Interesting move! Framer is great for getting things live quickly, but I can see why a growing team would want more control. Curious, what's been the biggest improvement since switching to Astro?

end of an era indeed, curious what stack did you move to in the end?

The part I'd read next is the editing side. On Framer the team changed copy without a deploy. In Astro, what did non-devs get, a headless CMS with previews, or do content edits go through PRs now? That is usually what decides whether a migration like this sticks.

Smart move to run your own site on the stack before selling it to clients. For the interactive parts, are you using React islands in Astro, or keeping things mostly static with a bit of vanilla JS?

Gracious way to close the Framer chapter, Adrian. Running your own site on the same stack you sell to clients is the strongest proof of conviction. Congrats to the team on DesignMe 2.0.

I get this move. Framer is fast for many teams. But when a studio grows, control over code and speed matters more. How do you handle quick copy changes now?
