Imagine your SaaS website ranks on the first page of Google for a keyword that brings thousands of visitors every month. Sounds great, right?
But what if those visitors aren't looking for your product? What if they're searching for information, while your page is trying to sell a solution? Or what if the keyword attracts an audience that has no real interest in what your business offers?
You might be getting clicks, but are you attracting the right people?
That's why keyword research isn't just about search volume. It's about understanding search intent, keyword relevance, and how a search query aligns with your business goals.
A keyword with lower search volume but stronger relevance can bring visitors who are more likely to engage, explore your product, or become customers.
Good SEO copywriting isn't about chasing the biggest numbers. It's about connecting the right content with the right audience at the right moment.
Because ranking for a keyword that doesn't serve your goals isn't necessarily a win. Sometimes, it's just traffic without purpose.

Let's say two people search for "best project management software."

Same topic. Different intentions.
This is where search intent comes in. It refers to the reason behind a search query and helps explain what someone actually expects to find.
There are three important types to understand:
- Informational intent: People want to learn something. They need guides, explanations, tutorials, or answers.
- Commercial investigation: People are researching and comparing options before making a decision. They need reviews, comparisons, and recommendations.
- Transactional intent: People are ready to take action. They need product pages, pricing information, offers, or clear calls to action.
And here's my take: SEO isn't just about choosing the right keywords. It's about understanding the people behind those searches.
You can target a relevant keyword, write a well-structured article, and follow SEO best practices, but if your content doesn't match the user's search intent, it may fail to satisfy what they're actually looking for.
Good SEO content doesn't just answer a search query. It answers the right question, at the right stage of the decision-making process.

I think this is one of the most common questions in the writing and digital marketing world. And honestly, the distinction is simpler than you might think.
Both involve communicating ideas through words, but they often serve different purposes.
Content writing is generally focused on informing, educating, or engaging an audience. Think blog posts, articles, guides, and educational resources. Its goal is to provide value, answer questions, and build an ongoing relationship with readers.
Copywriting, on the other hand, is typically more focused on persuasion and encouraging action. Think landing pages, advertisements, product descriptions, and sales emails. It helps communicate an offer's value and gives the audience a reason to take the next step.
But here's where it gets interesting: they aren't competing approaches. They work better together.
Imagine someone discovers a business through an SEO blog post. The article answers a question, introduces a solution, and builds interest. Later, that person visits the company's landing page, where persuasive copy explains the offer and encourages them to sign up.
One attracts and educates. The other helps convert interest into action.
Of course, content writing can persuade, and copywriting can educate. The distinction isn't absolute; it's about the primary purpose of the message.
My take? Good marketing doesn't need to choose between copywriting and content writing. It needs to understand when each one is most effective.

UX Writing vs. Copywriting: What's the Difference?
A landing page and a checkout screen shouldn't communicate in the same way.
And I think that's a great way to understand the difference between UX writing and copywriting.
Both rely on clear, intentional language, but they serve different purposes.
Copywriting is generally focused on attracting attention, communicating value, and persuading people to take action. You'll find it in advertisements, landing pages, product descriptions, and promotional emails.
UX writing, on the other hand, focuses on the words people encounter while interacting with a product or service. Its job is to guide users, explain what happens next, and make digital experiences easier to navigate.
Think about it:
A landing page might use persuasive copy to convince someone to sign up. But once that person reaches the registration or checkout screen, the language needs to be straightforward and helpful.
Buttons, error messages, confirmation messages, instructions, and form labels are all examples of UX writing.
What I'm trying to say is that you can persuade someone to start an interaction, but you shouldn't make them struggle to complete it.
Good UX writing reduces confusion and helps people move forward. Good copywriting communicates why they should want to.
And the two can absolutely overlap. A well-written button, for example, can be both persuasive and useful.
Ultimately, both depend on understanding the audience, choosing the right words, and knowing what the user needs at each stage of their journey.
