Goya’s Self-Portrait made me think about someone having a lot going on internally but struggling to get any of it out.
That became UNSAID. The thoughts around him show up as thread, paper, vellum, graphite, and dust. At first, they’re scattered and overwhelming. He starts paying attention to them, notices connections between the pieces, and eventually turns that same mess into something he can express through.
I built the whole process in FLORA, from studying the original work and shaping the idea to the keyframes, motion tests, and final film.
The things he couldn’t say became the art around him.
Original work: Francisco Goya, Self-Portrait, ca. 1796, The Metropolitan Museum of Art https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/334004
