Just wrapped up PromptPilot, a small AI chat demo built to test smooth, real-time streaming.
It explores how far you can push the new OpenAI Responses API without a heavy backend.
What it does: • Streams GPT-5-mini in real time with selectable tones • Uses double guardrails for safer outputs • Tracks chat history and token usage per session
Built with: Next.js 15, React 19, Tailwind v4, Zustand, OpenAI Responses API, Sonner, CryptoJS.
I built it to get hands-on with the new Responses API and focus on smooth UX, streaming, and safety.
Walkthrough below 👇 Let me know what you’d improve before calling it production-ready.

Super clean build! The real-time streaming looks really smooth. I like how you handled tone selection and guardrails — those details really shape the UX. Curious: did you feel any noticeable latency differences when testing the Responses API with longer messages?

Not really. And even when there’s a tiny delay, the streaming makes it basically nothing. The response comes in as the model is generating it, so you’re not sitting there waiting for the whole message to finish before anything shows. It just feels instant on the user side.

Got it — that makes sense. Streaming really does smooth out any delays. Thanks for the insight! I’ll keep this in mind as I experiment with the Responses API.
