Most multilingual medical websites break SEO without knowing it.
You build a Georgian site. You add English and Russian versions. You think Google handles it automatically.
Then your Georgian pages rank worse than before. English pages don't show up in Georgian search. Russian pages disappear entirely.
The problem: SEO tags (title, meta description) are in the wrong language.
Here's what actually works -- language-matched SEO:
Each page version gets tags in its own language.
Georgian page (/ka) → Georgian title + Georgian meta description
English page (/en) → English title + English meta description
Russian page (/ru) → Russian title + Russian meta description
Why it matters:
Google ranks Georgian pages higher in Georgian search when meta tags are Georgian -- even if AI models understand English better. Local search beats global AI trends.
hreflang (which Wix adds automatically) tells Google: "These are 3 versions of the same page." But if all tags are in English, Google gets confused. It thinks the Georgian page is actually an English page. Ranking drops 70% in Georgian search.
What doesn't work:
