The journey started with pen and paper. I used the same kind of notebook that I use to keep a diary. I had only heard of REST APIs. A little. Like what they were... And slowly, over the next 6 months, I picked up the structural understanding and shipped a consumer intelligence platform.
I am now building an MCP wrapper for Signalwatch. The right internship even pays $20 - $30 per hour. Previously, the highest I earned per hour was $2.2.
It was not earning more dollars that got me on this path. It was a clique that probably played a prank and told me that a person from wher I come from should not handle queries from certain big clients. long story..., and a positive outcome.
It is a lifetime journey now.
Now I want to know what Rest API’s are… I don’t know if it’s related to my field

If I build a weather app from scratch, how will it know what the weather is? 2 options.
1. I will have to build weather centers or something across the globe which will tell the app what the weather is like in any country.

The weather app might already been drawing it's information from weather centers already so it's basically the same information just in your style.

A month and a half ago, on June 5, I got serious about Contra. And now there are a hundred of us.
A bit of context. I've got 3+ years on Upwork behind me: $70K earned, Top Rated Plus, 100% Job Success. But over the last six months something broke. Fewer invites, shrinking budgets, client expectations through the roof, and the platform's fees just keep climbing. The strange part — I was doing exactly what I'd always done. It wasn't me. A lot of people are saying the same thing right now: Upwork isn't what it used to be.
At some point I just decided to stop knocking on a closed door and try something new. That's how I ended up here.
And yeah, I'm starting from zero again. Zero followers, zero reviews, building it all back up. A little scary, honestly.
But in these six weeks:
✅ earned my first $1,000 on Contra
✅ got the Jitter Expert badge
✅ and my last post pulled 1.5K views and 3 Goats 🐐

even if you take on a big freelance project and it doesn't land the way you hoped, you still walked away with a real deliverable, a new client relationship, and a clearer process. that's the part most people miss.
The clearer process part hits home, that's usually the thing you only notice you gained after the dust settles. What's one process change you made after a project like that, that you still use on every client now?
