Title: The Artifact (Episode 1: "Home")
Logline: In a world reduced to dust, one man's last inherited object might be the key to something humanity thought was gone forever โ a home.
The Artifact follows Jaxson, one of the last people alive in a world where the atmosphere collapsed and civilization was erased down to bare desert. He lives in isolation with his friend James, scavenging meaning from a landscape with nothing left to scavenge โ until a single object from his childhood, entrusted to him by his father with the words "when you need a home, you'll find this," turns out to be more than a keepsake.
The pilot opens with Jaxson's own voice defining the stakes of this world: survival without purpose, waiting for an ending rather than living toward anything. That changes the moment he rediscovers the artifact his father gave him. Paired with a map James has been silently piecing together, the two set out across the wasteland to a massive, unnatural circular mark scorched into the desert โ a scar too precise to be geological. When Jaxson places the artifact into a socket built to fit it exactly, the ground answers: a buried city rises from beneath the sand, shedding centuries of burial in real time.
The episode ends not with an explanation, but a reveal โ deliberately withholding the why. Who built the city? Why was it hidden, and why was the key entrusted to Jaxson's family specifically? Is this discovery a rescue for what's left of humanity, or does it wake something meant to stay buried? James's own unexplained find (the map) raises a second, parallel mystery still unresolved by episode's end, seeding a second character thread beyond Jaxson's.
This pilot is built to expand: the city itself becomes the setting for episode 2, the father's backstory and his connection to the artifact opens a mystery to unravel across the series, and the bond between Jaxson and James โ two survivors who've had nothing but each other โ gives the show its emotional core as they're forced to navigate whatever they've just uncovered together.

VESPER THE HOST ๐ฆ๐๏ธ
Pilot: Donโt Turn On The Light
Vesper is a late-night host who has spent years building the perfect on-air persona: composed, articulate, curious, and completely in control.
There is just one problem.
He is still a moth.
For this character, I wanted the defining trait to live in his behavior, not only his appearance.
Instead of creating a conventional AI character short, I treated Vesper like the host of an existing podcast series, using interview rhythm, presenter cues, hooks, recurring character behavior, and a continuing-show structure to make the pilot feel like an actual episode.
The conflict is deliberately simple:
During the interview, Vesperโs guest pulls out a light.
The professional host disappears. Instinct takes over.
That contradiction is the foundation of the character: a sophisticated talk-show host constantly trying to maintain his dignity while being betrayed by the most basic moth instincts.
Production note
The character, performances, scenes, dialogue, and original pilot were created in Cantina Creator Studio.
My original generated episode was approximately 2:17, so I intended to use Creator Studioโs built-in editor to trim it to the Challenge length and add simple character-identification text.
I completed those edits inside Creator Studio, but the Generate step repeatedly failed and I was unable to export the edited version.
I first contacted Cantina Support about the issue on September 17, followed up on September 18, and requested escalation again on September 22 after the response I received did not resolve the editing problem.
With the deadline approaching, I did not want to leave the project unpublished because of a technical issue I had already reported and tried to resolve.
The final edit therefore uses only the original Cantina-created material, with the cuts and simple title text I originally intended to complete inside Cantinaโs own editor.
No replacement scenes, externally generated footage, characters, dialogue, or alternative AI video generation were used.
I wanted to be fully transparent about the process and the reason for this workaround.
