"The answer is only as good as how it's delivered" I've seen technically correct RAG pipelines get ignored because the output looked like a debug log — a wall of JSON, no formatting, no visual hierarchy. The retrieval was right. Nobody trusted it, because it didn't look like something a person could trust.
Design isn't a layer you add after the AI part is done. It's part of the product:
A confidence score means nothing until it's shown clearly, not buried in a field name
A cited source builds trust only if it's visible, not hidden three fields deep
A Slack message, an email draft, a dashboard card — each needs its own shape, not one generic text blob
Claude and LangChain get the answer right. Python formats it into something usable. n8n puts it where people actually look. But someone still has to decide what "right" looks like on screen — and that's as much a part of the job as the retrieval logic.
Good AI output that looks like a debug log doesn't get used. Good AI output that looks considered does.
