Google Ads Case Study | Solving a Search Intent Problem One of the challenges I faced while managing a Google Ads campaign for a UK language and interpretation services business was not simply generating traffic. The bigger challenge was making sure the traffic was relevant to the services being offered. The account had multiple services and different types of search intent. Some searches were highly relevant, while others could consume budget without creating meaningful business opportunities. The Problem The campaign needed better control over:
Search intent
Keyword relevance
Wasted search traffic
Campaign segmentation
Conversion performance
Budget allocation How I Managed It I analyzed the campaign data and worked through the account systematically: Search Terms → Keyword Intent → Negative Keywords → Campaign Structure → Ad Relevance → Conversion Tracking → Optimization I focused on:
Reviewing actual search terms
Identifying irrelevant searches
Adding negative keywords
Separating campaigns by service intent
Improving ad messaging
Monitoring conversion and call activity
Reallocating budget toward stronger-performing areas
Continuously testing and optimizing Results The campaign delivered: 48.9K+ clicks 1M+ impressions 706+ tracked conversions / call actions £2.91K+ ad spend The key lesson from this campaign: When performance isn't where you want it to be, increasing the budget isn't always the answer. Sometimes the opportunity is already inside the data. Better search intent → Better targeting → More relevant traffic → Better business opportunities.
