Good enough messaging can become an expensive decision for an early-stage SaaS.
When the product is still evolving, founders naturally prioritize:
→ Building the next feature
→ Fixing onboarding
→ Talking to customers
→ Improving the product
Messaging often gets pushed down the list.
But the product still has to sell while all of that is happening.
My approach to B2B SaaS messaging is to make the current product easier to understand and easier to evaluate.
That means focusing on:
→ The outcome the buyer actually wants
→ The problem the product solves
→ Why the solution is different
→ What could make the buyer hesitate
→ Where the current copy creates unnecessary friction
The goal isn't to make a V1 sound bigger than it is.
It's to communicate the value of the V1 clearly enough that the product can earn attention, conversations, and customers while the team keeps building.
I structure messaging work around that principle:
Make the decision clearer.
Reduce unnecessary friction.
Let the product speak for itself.
Someone who downloaded your free business guide isn't necessarily ready to buy your programme.
And someone who has already completed your programme probably doesn't need the same introductory email as a new subscriber.
Yet many businesses communicate with their entire email list as though everyone has the same needs.
This can make email marketing feel repetitive and less relevant.
A better approach is to organise subscribers based on their interests and relationship with the business.
For example, a business coach could distinguish between:
-People who downloaded a free resource.
-Subscribers interested in a particular coaching programme.
-Existing or previous clients.
-People who regularly engage with newsletters.
With thoughtful email segmentation and targeted email automation, each group can receive communication that makes sense for where they are.
This isn't about sending more emails. It's about making the emails you already send more meaningful.
I help businesses organise their email marketing, segment subscriber lists and build email campaigns and automations using platforms such as Mailchimp and Klaviyo.
If your email list needs better organisation or your campaigns aren't reaching the right audience, I can help you improve your email marketing.
