Skin-first fragrance is not just perfume without alcohol.
It changes the way people use scent.
A body mist, hair mist, water-based perfume, or scented lotion does not live in the same ritual as an eau de parfum. It is closer to skincare, haircare, getting dressed, reapplying, layering, touching up before leaving the house.
So the brand language has to change too.
“Gentle” is not enough. “Hydrating” is not enough.
The real question is: Where does this product belong in someone’s day?
After a shower? In a gym bag? On hair before going out? Next to body cream? As a softer scent for people who do not want a full perfume cloud?
When fragrance moves closer to skin, the product concept needs to become more specific, not more vague.
That is where format becomes strategy.
