More and more people ask ChatGPT "who's a good plumber near me?" instead of scrolling through Google. If your business is hard to understand online, these tools can't recommend you.
5 things that help
1) A complete Google Business Profile with hours, services and photos
2) The same name, address and phone number everywhere online
3) A page for each service, written in plain words
4) An FAQ that answers the questions customers really ask
5) Recent reviews from real customers
None of this needs a big budget. Which one is missing for your business?
Number 2 is the one most local businesses miss, and it is the one the models cross-check before they recommend anyone. One more I would add: a dated last-updated line on the service pages, the engines weigh freshness hard. Have you seen a client actually show up in a ChatGPT answer after fixing these?
the last updated line is a great add, thanks! and honestly not yet, it's still early and hard to track properly. I'm planning to test a few of these on real sites and check what ChatGPT says before and after. will share if anything interesting comes out of it
