SEO for a Commercial Online Project | Organic Traffic Growth & Google Rankings The client was a commercial online project in Ukraine looking to improve its visibility in Google Search and generate more organic traffic. At the beginning of the project, the website had 2.34K organic clicks, 62.3K impressions, and an average Google position of 13.7.
The main objective was to expand organic visibility, improve rankings for relevant queries, and increase qualified organic traffic.
I worked on the project's SEO optimization and performance monitoring, using Google Search Console as the primary data source.
Challenges
The project started with limited search visibility and a relatively low average position: - 2.34K organic clicks - 62.3K impressions - 3.8% CTR - 13.7 average position
The main challenge was to increase visibility while improving rankings and maintaining traffic quality. As the website began appearing for a broader range of queries, CTR initially decreased, so performance had to be evaluated through clicks, impressions, rankings, and CTR together.
What I Implemented
I focused on SEO performance analysis, search visibility growth, and continuous monitoring of Google Search performance.
The work included:
- monitoring clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position; - analyzing performance across comparable control periods; - identifying ranking growth opportunities; - monitoring priority queries and pages; - evaluating how increased visibility translated into traffic; - using Google Search Console data to guide further optimization.
Optimization Approach
The initial stage focused on expanding the website's presence in Google Search. The first control period showed strong growth in impressions and clicks, while CTR temporarily decreased from 3.8% to 2.1% as visibility expanded across a broader range of queries.
The following stage focused on improving ranking and click efficiency. The average position improved from 10 to 6.9, while CTR recovered from 2.1% to 2.6%.
Results
- According to Google Search Console data: - Organic clicks: 2.34K → 5.43K - Impressions: 62.3K → 212K - Average position: 13.7 → 6.9 - Organic clicks growth: +132% - Search visibility growth: 3.4× - Average position improvement: 6.8 positions
Between the first and final control periods, organic clicks increased from 3.54K to 5.43K, representing a 53.4% increase. Impressions grew from 166K to 212K, while the average position improved from 10 to 6.9.
Final Period
Compared with the previous month:
- Organic clicks: 4.45K → 5.43K (+22%) - Impressions: 218K → 212K (-2.8%) - CTR: 2.0% → 2.6% - Average position: 7.8 → 6.9
Despite a slight decrease in impressions, the website generated 22% more organic clicks, showing that improved rankings and CTR made existing visibility more effective.
Business Impact
The SEO work delivered:
- 1.89K additional organic clicks between the first and final control periods; - 3.4× higher search visibility compared with the initial situation; - an average position within the first page of Google; - higher CTR and more efficient use of search visibility; - a stronger foundation for continued organic growth.
Conclusion
The project demonstrated that sustainable SEO growth requires both expanded visibility and improved click efficiency. The website progressed from 2.34K to 5.43K organic clicks, while search visibility increased 3.4× and the average Google position improved from 13.7 to 6.9.
Final result: 5.43K organic clicks, 212K impressions, and a 6.9 average Google position, with organic clicks increasing by 132% from the initial situation.
