Voted 1, because thumbs on mobile are ruthless and square owns more of the screen. I'd quietly keep 2 for the website hero though, that light deserves a wide stage.

My vote is 1. The square crop keeps the desk tight and reads cleanly at thumbnail size. The wide one is prettier, but tight wins for a promo like this.
