Most MVPs are dead ends. I wanted Nuvara to be the opposite — a starting point, not a finished box.
It's a responsive e-commerce frontend built on the MERN stack: React 18, Redux Toolkit, React Bootstrap, and a REST API layer underneath. Right now it handles product listing and search, a wishlist, cart state, protected routes, and a simulated checkout.
Nothing groundbreaking on the surface. The interesting part is what's underneath.
I spent most of my time on the architecture, not the features — structuring Redux slices and service layers so the app doesn't have to be rebuilt when it grows up. Swapping the simulated checkout for real Stripe or PayPal payments, adding JWT auth and social login, layering in an admin dashboard, inventory management, order tracking — none of that should mean tearing out the foundation. It should just mean building on it.
That constraint changed how I approached almost every decision. It's easy to wire up a cart that works for a demo. It's harder to wire one up that won't fight you six months from now when the requirements change. 🧱
Still refining the auth flow and thinking through how far to take the service layer before it's over-engineered for an MVP. That balance — building for scale without gold-plating something nobody's using yet — is the part I keep coming back to.
Currently taking on MERN projects, remote or Rabat-based, if this kind of thinking is useful to your team.
Where do you personally draw the line between "build it right" and "ship it now"?
