As soon as anyone says retrofuturism, Cowboy Bebop comes to mind. The entire aesthetic of the show the environmental design, the worn-out machinery, the tired-looking technology feels like the definition of the term.
It’s set in the far future, yet these bounty hunters still encounter technology that already felt dated when the show was made. There’s even an adventure where a VHS tape becomes a central item necessary to the plot.
Nothing says nostalgia quite like ’90s technology being treated as an ancient relic in the future.
