I could have asked this client to increase their budget. Instead, I changed what the budget was buying.
A home service business came to me with a Google Ads account that needed more than just “more traffic.”
My first move wasn't increasing the budget.
I looked at where the money was going, what searches were triggering ads, and which actions Google was counting as conversions.
Then I tightened targeting, cleaned up irrelevant searches, added negative keywords, and focused the campaign around stronger intent.
30-day result:
$530 spend 351 clicks 33.5 conversions $15.81 cost/conv.
The lesson?
When Google Ads isn't working, “increase the budget” shouldn't automatically be your first answer.
Sometimes the problem isn't how much you're spending.
It's what you're spending it on.
