Meet Pine Axe Farm 🌲🪓 - a small petting zoo business located in Sintra, Portugal - both taking advantage of its beautiful scenery but also struggling with its moody micro-climate with sudden, unpredictable rain.

Oh, and of course, since we're dealing with live (and equally moody) animals, farm visits are strictly tied to daylight hours - they make the rules, not us.

My challenge was to help them turn their clunky booking chaos and nightmare rainy-day cancellations into seamless, user-friendly (and owner-friendly) workflows.

Like many small local businesses, Pine Axe Farm ran almost entirely on Instagram DMs and WhatsApp messages. People would often inquire about visiting, but the back-and-forth to figure out availability would cause them to eventually drop off. Even worse, when Sintra’s notorious rain rolled in, the owner had to manually message a dozen families to reschedule, leading to a massive administrative headache (and lost revenue).

Built in Lovable, this end-to-end web app completely removes the manual friction for both the visitor and the owner.

For the visitor: a mobile-optimized, frictionless booking flow that turns an inbound inquiry into a confirmed ticket in SECONDS. It even generates a digital "Boarding Pass" with a share button so people can easily coordinate with friends.

For the owner: a streamlined dashboard that completely eliminates the time-consuming manual effort. The standout feature is the "Rain Check" button - where with one tap, the owner can trigger automated rescheduling options for all affected visitors due to sudden weather shifts.

By capturing inbound interest instantly and automating the hardest part of the business (weather-related rescheduling), Pine Axe Farm will now be able to save hours of weekly admin work and stop losing people to the DM abyss. Which is especially important since they rely heavily on donations to keep their farm alive.
