Your business grew.
Your team grew.
Your clients grew.
But somehow, some of your processes are still being run exactly the way they were when the business was much smaller.
Spreadsheets being passed around for information that should be accessible to everyone.
Manually copying information from one platform to another.
Following up with clients from memory.
Searching through WhatsApp conversations to find important details.
Sending the same emails over and over.
Having one person who “just knows how everything works.”
And sometimes, the biggest red flag;
“We’ve always done it this way.”
The problem isn’t that these methods are old.
The problem is that they become expensive when the business outgrows them.
More people means more handoffs.
More clients means more information.
More work means more opportunities for things to get missed.
And eventually, what used to be a simple process becomes operational friction.
This is where I think businesses need to pause before immediately looking for another tool.
Ask:
What are we still doing manually that no longer needs to be manual?
What information is sitting in places it shouldn’t?
What depends too heavily on one person’s memory?
What process worked at 5 clients but is struggling at 50?
You don’t always need more software.
Sometimes you just need to look at how the work is actually moving through the business and ask whether the system still makes sense.
Because growth shouldn’t just mean doing more work.
It should also mean finding better ways to do the work.

currently working on a new project, and it reminded me why the strategy phase is probably my favorite part of the whole process.
whether it’s for a website or a full brand identity, i love going beyond the brief and trying to understand the business as deeply as possible.
the client call, the brief, the old website… those are just the starting point.
then comes the fun part: researching, asking questions, digging deeper, understanding how the business works, who they sell to, what they stand for, how they communicate, and why people should choose them.
sometimes, you even discover things the client knows internally but hasn’t fully articulated yet, or things they’re simply not communicating clearly enough.
that’s what i love about strategy: taking all that information, finding the patterns, and bringing clarity and structure to everything.
honestly, this might be my favorite part of the whole process.

Hot take: AI is making some businesses more disorganized, not less.
Why?
Because teams keep adding tools before fixing the process.
Now they have:
• AI meeting notes
• AI email drafts
• AI task lists
• AI research
• AI content
• AI everything
…and still no one knows what actually needs to happen next.
The real advantage isn’t using the most AI.
It’s knowing where AI should fit into a clear workflow.
That’s where operations matters.
Use AI to speed up:
• Follow-ups
• Research
• Documentation
• Reporting
• SOP creation
• Repetitive admin
But keep human judgment for priorities, communication, and decisions.
AI should reduce friction, not create more tabs.

What Happens When a Business Stops Chasing Everyone?
I used to think growing a business was simply about getting more customers.
More followers.
More messages.
More orders.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized something: not every customer is the right customer.
Sometimes, a business can be busy every day and still struggle to make real progress.
You may be spending money trying to reach everyone, lowering your prices to keep people interested, and constantly creating content just to get attention.
But what if the problem isn't that you need more people?
What if you need to understand the right people?
Think about it.
Who actually needs your product?
Who appreciates what you offer?
Who comes back after buying?
Who recommends you to others?
Those are the people your business should understand deeply.
When you know your ideal customer, your marketing becomes easier. Instead of saying:
“Everyone should buy from me.”
You can say:
“If you have this problem, I know how to help you.”
And suddenly, your message has direction.
You don't have to chase every person who sees your business. You don't have to change your prices for everyone or create products just because someone asks for them.
Sometimes, choosing who you want to serve is what helps your business grow.
Because real growth isn't always about having the biggest audience.
Sometimes it's about having the right audience—people who trust you, value what you offer, return to you, and tell others about your business.
Stop asking, “How do I get everyone to buy from me?”
Start asking:
“Who am I best positioned to serve?”
This is one of the fundamental lesson everyone needs to learn about managing a business.
