Good Binchotan charcoal takes 15 minutes to light to 700°C. An empty held table on a Friday night costs a grill house hundreds.
At a busy Japanese charcoal grill house, the Friday 19:30 rush breaks in two places:
Reserved tables that arrive 25 minutes late or no-show while a 700°C charcoal pit burns out empty.
A sidewalk queue of walk-in guests who give up and leave because nobody can tell them when a pit will actually clear—while the host is stuck calling late numbers instead of running the floor.
So for the #Base44Challenge, I built KŌRO — a live charcoal table and walk-in queue autopilot for Kōro Yakiniku & Smokehouse (12 Binchotan pits, one host, zero phone calls).
⚡ What runs on its own (7 live Base44 Workflows):
• 3-Tap No-Account Booking & Walk-In Queue: Guests book a pit or grab a sidewalk queue ticket in three taps with no account or card required. Walk-in wait times are computed live from tables currently in the DESSERT_FINISHING stage. • AI Hospitality Note-to-Kitchen Parser (InvokeLLM): When a guest types "Party of 4, grandma uses a walker, severe shrimp allergy, 60th birthday", KŌRO automatically locks a step-free ground-floor table (T02), routes a red 🚨 SHELLFISH ALLERGY — FRESH MESH alert to the kitchen rail, and schedules a birthday dessert. • Interactive Thermal Pass (Guest Self-Service): Every guest gets a live thermal ticket that doubles as a control panel:
🔥 "I'm 5 mins away — Light the Binchotan": Pre-fires their assigned pit from 25°C to 700°C so the first skewer grills the moment they sit down.
⏳ "Running late — Request +10 min": Grants a single 10-minute grace extension and stamps lateExtensionUsed = true so it can never be triggered twice.
🔄 "Can't make it — Release to waitlist": Frees the pit immediately and promotes the next walk-in party. • 15-Minute Grace Hold Enforcer & Waitlist Auto-Promoter: When a reservation passes its seat time without check-in, the table flips to a 15-minute countdown. The second the hold expires, KŌRO marks it AUTO_RELEASED, promotes the first matching walk-in party off the sidewalk queue, fires their charcoal to 680°C, and logs the rescued cover (+$240)—before the host ever reaches for the phone. • On-Brand HTML Email Dispatcher: Every floor decision (grace warning, one-time extension, waitlist promotion, pre-fired pit ready, and post-dining 1-tap review) composes a custom KŌRO-styled HTML email filed to the live audit log for inspection.
🎬 Built for Judges to Test in 60 Seconds:
Press "▶ Play Friday 7:30 PM Rush (60s Live Simulator)" in the top bar to watch the entire 19:15 → 20:15 Friday service hour unfold live across the 12-pit floor map, kitchen allergy rail, and automation toast feed—or switch between Desktop and the native-style Mobile bottom-tab layout.
Built end-to-end with @Base44: database entities, AI note parsing, floor workflows, branded HTML emails, and responsive UI.
