Close a retainer period with a traceable opening balance for the next one.
In this kit's fictional C-82 example, September includes 12 current-period hours, no opening carry-in and 9 hours delivered. The agreement permits up to 4 unused current hours to roll. After the final time record is reconciled, 3 hours can become the next period's opening carry-in.
A useful closeout record connects four things: • The ended period and final time-source reference • The unused current-period hours after applying the agreed consumption rule • The permitted carry-out, limited by the agreed cap • The reference carried into the next period's opening balance
Check the source cutoff before copying a number forward. A late or disputed time entry needs a recorded resolution. Under this kit's stated rule, unused opening carry-in expires and never rolls a second time.
The preview is the actual Close the period page from the fictional completed example in the Client Retainer Hours and Rollover Kit. The download includes an editable Word packet, Excel tracker, matching print PDF, fictional completed example and Quick Start.
Use it only when its carry-in-first consumption and rollover rules match your existing agreement. The files support manual reconciliation; they do not approve extra work, change terms or create invoices.
