Your startup may not need a full website yet.
But it may also have outgrown a landing page.
The right choice depends less on how “serious” the business wants to look and more on how much the customer needs to understand before taking action.
A focused landing page can work extremely well when you have: ▶︎ one main product or offer ▶︎ one primary audience ▶︎ one clear conversion goal ▶︎ a relatively simple decision-making journey
In that case, spreading the story across multiple pages can add complexity without adding much value.
A multipage website starts making more sense when the business has more depth: ▶︎ several services or products ▶︎ different audience groups ▶︎ a lot of information people need before deciding ▶︎ separate case studies, resources, locations, or team content ▶︎ an SEO strategy that needs dedicated pages ▶︎ a longer or more considered buying journey
At that point, forcing everything onto one page can create the opposite problem: too much information competing for attention.
So I wouldn’t start with: “Landing page or full website?”
I’d start with: “What does someone need to understand, trust, and find before they’re ready to take the next step?”
Then build the right structure around that.
