A small part of the development of the Waizen Sports identity began through rigorous exploration—testing grid structures, display types, and geometric variations to find the exact intersection of industrial force and athletic agility.
The custom wordmark integrates a hidden, negative-space "z," embedding the brand’s core ethos—seeing the invisible—directly into the typography.
The abstract symbol reinterprets the number 1 into a sharp, abstract, and dynamic standalone mark built for performance.
Anchored by a high-contrast palette of deep plum and electric yellow, the resulting system is minimal, distinct, and uncompromising.
Two questions for the designers in the room:
Do subtle, hidden design details like a negative-space "z" actually elevate a brand?
Unconventional color pairings like plum and yellow: a stroke of visual genius, or a risky move that alienates traditional sports branding?
The mark fans out from a narrow point, while the wordmark leans forward. together, they give it a sense of movement without needing much detail.
There’s a lot of color in the wider identity, so the logo holds its own in plain white. Simple geometry with enough weight to stand up to everything around it.
The ridiculously large wordmark is the entire personality, tinned fish has never strutted like this. Proof that confidence is a design decision, not a budget line.
