Decided to finish up an incomplete class exercise on n8n production-ready WhatsApp notification system for a Travel Agency using WSApi.
Building it out brought three major takeaways:
1. Sequential Loop Architecture > Parallel Execution
To prevent race conditions where both branches read stale data from Google Sheets simultaneously, I chained the workflow sequentially. Routing the done output of the 'Pre-Trip loop node' (plus the false condition output) directly into the 'Post-Trip IF node' guaranteed that pre-trip records fully updated before post-trip checks even started.
2. DevTools (F12) is an API cheat code
When custom API docs leave gaps or return HTML errors, open Chrome DevTools, hit F12 then, the Network tab (Fetch/XHR), and run a test request. Inspecting the raw network call instantly reveals the exact URL, required headers, and JSON payload schema ("text" vs "body") for n8n's HTTP Request node.
3. Always map dynamically!
My Google Sheet rows weren't updating until my brain finally clicked: map dynamically. Mapping row number using fixed state tracking across the loops immediately.
Nothing beats the feeling of watching every single node light up with clean green checkmarks!
