Data modeling in Microsoft Power BI is the foundation of accurate and high-performance dashboards.
1. Use Star Schema
Fact table → numeric data (Sales, Revenue)
Dimension tables → descriptive data (Customer, Product, Date)
Keep fact in center, dimensions around it
2. Relationships (When to Use What)
One-to-Many (1:*) → Best practice (Dimension → Fact)
Many-to-One (*:1) → Same as above, reversed view
One-to-One (1:1) → Rare, use only if necessary
Many-to-Many (:) → Avoid; use bridge table instead
3. Filter Direction
Single direction → Recommended (Dimension → Fact)
Bi-directional → Use only for complex cases
4. Data Preparation
Clean data in Power Query
Remove duplicates, fix types, handle nulls
5. DAX Measures
Use measures (SUM, CALCULATE) over columns
6. Best Practices
Use a proper Date table
Keep dimension values unique

Overview
BitScocity Dashboard is a modern analytics platform designed to help users track performance, manage campaigns, and monitor key metrics efficiently.
Problem
The existing experience was cluttered, with poor data hierarchy, making it difficult for users to quickly understand insights and navigate between sections.

I created a clean, structured dashboard with improved visual hierarchy, intuitive navigation, and clear data visualization to enhance usability and decision-making.

Dashboard Description – Performance Tracker
This Performance Tracker Dashboard presents a consolidated view of annual sales performance, growth indicators, and operational trends for a smartwatch product line.
At the top, key Year-to-Date (YTD) KPIs—including Sales 2023, Sales 2022, and Budget 2023—are highlighted with directional indicators to show progress and variance. The dashboard also visualizes category-level and segment-level growth rates through circular progress visuals, making year-over-year performance immediately understandable.
Sales by Segment is displayed through a monthly bar chart, showing how different periods contribute to total revenue.
Orders by Month uses a smooth line graph to track order volume trends, highlighting seasonal peaks and demand patterns.
