Learning from design book is great but The field teaches you people. You can read every book on user research, memorize every persona template, run a dozen workshops on empathy mapping and still be surprised the first time you sit across from a real user. Because a persona doesn't get frustrated mid-sentence. A persona doesn't contradict what they said five minutes ago. A persona doesn't have a bad day, a slow network, a kid pulling at their sleeve while they try to use your product. Real users do all of that. Some of the sharpest lessons from my time working on B2B SaaS software didn't come from any research doc they came from actually watching a driver or a dispatcher use the product in the field, under real conditions books can't simulate: bad light, low signal, no patience for a UI that makes them think twice. Books give you the vocabulary. Field work gives you the judgment the kind you can't frameworks your way into. If you're a designer, don't skip the reading. Just don't mistake it for the real thing.
