shots needed something else entirely, pistons and glowing brake
discs, where an #engine stops being one sound and becomes a set of
#mechanical events you hear one at a time.

A Rube Goldberg chain only works if you believe the physics, and most of that belief lives in the #audio. Every spring release, pivot, scissor snap and salt scatter had to land on the exact frame the #cgi did.

The salt scatter landing exactly on frame is the detail that gets me, that's the kind of timing that takes way more takes than the final 16 seconds let on. How many passes did the chain need before physics and sound actually lined up?
A sound and music exploration we wrote for BUCK's Tiffany & Co. holiday film. Our version wasn't the one that ran, but we still think about it.
Orchestral and cinematic, built around celesta carrying the melody with a string ostinato driving the rhythm underneath the first half. The celesta was the whole idea: it sits right between a music box and a bell, which felt correct for a film about a gift arriving out of nowhere.
