Designers, let’s talk about where our craft is actually heading.
AI is moving fast in web design, shifting everything from our day-to-day workflows to how we think about creativity. I’d love to hear how the community on Contra is navigating this shift.
Drop your thoughts in the comments on any (or all) of these:
The Current Impact: How has integrating AI tools influenced your actual day-to-day design work so far?
The Evolving Role: What do you see as your primary role as a web designer as AI automation becomes more embedded in the design process?
Future Adaptation: How do you plan to adapt, upskill, or reposition your work moving forward?
Feedback for AI Creators: What suggestions or requests do you have for the developers building AI tools for web design?
Taste vs. Algorithm: Do you think AI tools can ever truly understand—or replicate—the beauty, nuance, and intent of human design? 🚀 🚀 🚀 Let's discuss! Share your experiences, hot takes, or predictions below.🙌

@Arty Web Design AI has sped up early wireframes in my day-to-day work, but taste and intent still need human judgment. I’d like tools to offer more control over why they make design choices.

100% agree on human judgment being essential. Are you ever worried that AI will gradually take over core design functionality, or do you see it permanently staying in that 'assistant' role?

My take on taste vs algorithm: AI has compressed the distance between idea and first draft, but it hasn't touched the part where you decide if the idea was worth having in the first place. Curious if that gap is showing up in how clients brief you differently now too.
