To a grown-up, it's a puddle. To an imaginative kid, it's an ocean. 🌊
"The Paper Boat" β€” a one-take claymation short about a child who loses their little boat to the rain and chases it straight into a storm that only exists in their head. When embarking on an adventure, sometimes you gain more than you set out for.
Made entirely in CapCut Video Studio with Seedance 2.5 for the #contraseedancechallenge. I built matched clay character sheets and a rainy clay world as references.
🎬 Prompt used: Handmade claymation stop-motion, one continuous unbroken shot, one-take movie style, no cuts. Matte tactile clay with visible fingerprints, subtle stop-motion jitter. Clay character reference sheets + boat reference for continuity. 0–4s: low camera, yellow child playing with a clay boat in a mundane grey gutter puddle. 4–8s: imagination swells the puddle into a stormy sea, child leaps onto a leaf-raft. 8–13s: raging voyage through crashing waves and towering rocks. 13–17s: fast-swirling clay whirlpool, yellow child reaches and misses. 17–20s: purple child races in on a leaf-raft and snatches the boat at the last second. 20–25s: storm dissolves back to the calm ordinary gutter β€” magic exhales into reality. 25–30s: warm golden light fills the grey world, the two children crouch side by side setting both boats on the water together. Audio: cinematic rain and crashing waves into hopeful piano, no dialogue.
