Most of what I sell started as a conversation I wasn't trying to monetize.
I didn't set out to become a writer for hire. I started having conversations — thinking out loud, working through ideas I didn't have answers to yet, pulling threads to see where they went.
Somewhere in there I noticed something: the conversations weren't separate from the work. They were the work. Every time I found the right way to say something — the version that actually sounded like a person instead of a brand template — that was the skill. I just hadn't realized it was sellable yet.
That's basically the whole pitch behind the brand voice work I do here.
Most "brand voice" services hand you a tone-of-voice PDF and a list of adjectives — friendly, bold, approachable — and call it done. You still don't know what to actually type when you sit down to write the email.
I don't do that. I dig into how you actually talk, what you'd say to a friend if there were no brand on the line, and build from there. The deliverable isn't a document that describes your voice. It's content written in it — proof it works, not just a theory of how it should.
