I feel like there is a growing disconnect between SaaS pricing and actual value delivery. the traditional per-user model assumes that every seat provides equal value, which we know isn't true in a modern workspace setting because not all users use the tool the same way. at Swift Struck, we’re researching the impact of utility-based pricing on team efficiency. by moving to a pay-per-unit-of-compute model, we remove the pay-per-user problem entirely. the economics are straightforward: cost is determined by the volume of operations. this approach treats software as a raw utility.. similar to electricity, where the price per unit decreases as consumption hits specific thresholds. it’s a more honest way to look at how we build and pay for tools.
