I explored Bayut’s advanced property filters through the lens of Mental Models.
The question I wanted to test was simple: Do the filters reflect how renters naturally think about refining a property search?
The current experience offers useful filtering capabilities, but related criteria are distributed across the modal and some labels require users to interpret how the system is organized.
In this design exploration, I reorganized the same filtering experience around clearer renter concepts such as Property Preferences, Budget, Commute, Viewing Preferences, and Listed By. I also simplified a few labels to make the intent of each refinement easier to understand.
The goal wasn’t to add more functionality. It was to reduce the effort required to understand where a filter belongs and when to use it.
This is a design exploration based on the publicly visible experience, not a claim that the existing solution is wrong. Real user behavior, search patterns, business constraints, and usability testing would still be needed to validate these decisions.
