Created during my personal mentorship with Disney animator Stephen Dahl, this short 3D animation blends humor, character performance, and surprise storytelling.
The piece follows a young boy attempting to play basketball when his routine is interrupted by an unexpected figure — a flamboyant dancer who scolds him for being late. The boy, bewildered, asks “Who are you?” only to be met with the dramatic reply: “YOUR DANCING MASTER!” The dancer then breaks into a playful belly dance, transforming the scene into a comedic clash between discipline and spontaneity.
From a technical perspective, the animation emphasizes:
Character acting & timing: Expressive gestures and comedic timing drive the narrative.
Body mechanics: Contrasting the athletic motions of the boy with the exaggerated dance movements.
Performance-driven storytelling: Using dialogue and physicality to reveal character dynamics.
This project showcases my exploration of character-driven animation, comedic beats, and the joy of exaggeration in performance.
