🚀 Shopify Just Changed How Global Shipping Is Configured
If you’re building shipping apps for Shopify, this is one of the most important platform changes in a while.
Shopify has introduced Market-driven Shipping in Feature Preview.
Instead of configuring shipping through delivery profiles, merchants will manage shipping directly inside each Market.
Why this matters:
✅ Different shipping rules for each market without complex workarounds.
✅ Separate shipping configurations for DTC, B2B, and POS.
✅ More predictable checkout behavior when merchant rates and app rates are combined.
✅ A simpler model for merchants selling internationally.
For developers, this also means action may be required.
If your app reads or modifies merchant delivery profiles through the Admin API, you’ll need to prepare for the new architecture. Merchant-owned delivery profile APIs are being deprecated as merchants migrate to Market-driven Shipping, while app-owned delivery profiles continue to be supported with additional flexibility.
This is much bigger than an API update.
It’s another step in Shopify’s evolution toward making Markets the central place for managing global commerce, giving merchants more control while simplifying international operations.
If you’re building shipping, fulfillment, logistics, or carrier integrations, now is the time to test your app using the Feature Preview.
